A printed dance floor turns an ordinary venue floor into the centrepiece of the room. It shows up in the first dance video, the speeches and nearly every photo from the night. But not all printed dance floors are made the same way, and the method decides how it is fitted, how it feels underfoot and what happens to the floor afterwards.
Key takeaways
- There are two types: printed dance floor sheets, and vinyl dance floor wraps stuck over the existing floor.
- Sheets are UV printed on gloss white or mirror sheets and laid as the floor itself, ideal for marquees.
- Vinyl wraps are printed on floor grade vinyl and finished with a textured laminate for grip.
- Wraps use a removable adhesive made for temporary floor graphics. Always check your venue's rules first.
- Most wedding monograms are between 1 m and 2 m across.
What are the two types of printed dance floor?
We print both, and the right one depends on your venue. Here is the quick comparison.
| Printed dance floor sheets | Vinyl dance floor wrap | |
|---|---|---|
| How it's made | UV printed direct onto the sheet on our Fuji flatbed | Printed on floor grade vinyl on our 3.2 m Liyu, cut on the Zund |
| Finish | Gloss white or gold mirror sheet | Textured protective laminate for grip |
| Floor needed | None, the sheets are the floor | A smooth existing floor to stick to |
| Best for | Marquees, outdoor events, full printed floors | Monograms, logos and wraps over venue floors |
| After the event | Sheets can be reused | Lifts off with a removable adhesive |
In short: no floor, or you want the whole floor printed? Go for sheets. A good floor already there and you want your monogram or logo on it? Go for a wrap. Not sure? Tell us the venue and we will recommend one.
How are printed dance floor sheets made and laid?
Your design is UV printed straight onto the dance floor sheets on our Fuji flatbed, so the ink sits right on the surface and the gloss or mirror finish shines through where you want it. The sheets are then laid as a finished floor.
- Size: each sheet is 1220 x 2440 mm (8 x 4 ft) and 1.5 mm thick.
- Finishes we print on: gloss white and gold mirror, and we have printed on piano black and silver mirror sheets too.
- Shapes: sheets can be cut to any size or shape, from circles to a full Mickey Mouse head.
- Protection: every sheet arrives with a protective film on the face.

Real jobs: a gold monogram on gloss white sheets for a white marble wedding at The Dorchester, and a Mickey ears floor for a Mickey and Minnie fifth birthday.
Pro tip Keep the protective film on until the floor is laid, then peel it off just before guests arrive for a flawless finish.
Because the sheets are the floor, they are ideal for marquees, outdoor venues and anywhere without a suitable floor. They can also be reused, which is why decorators and hire companies buy plain dance floor sheets from us too.
How is a vinyl dance floor wrap fitted?
A wrap is the other route. Your design is printed on floor grade vinyl on our 3.2 m Liyu, cut to shape on our Zund and finished with a textured protective laminate. It is then applied over the venue's existing floor with a removable adhesive.
- Works on: LED, wooden, vinyl and polished concrete floors.
- Full wraps: printed in panels that follow the joins of the floor, so they line up neatly.
- Monograms and logos: cut to shape, so the venue floor shows around them.

If you need delivery or installation, mention it when you ask for a quote.
Is a printed dance floor slippery?
This is the question we hear most, and it is a fair one. The answer depends on the type.
Vinyl wraps
- Finished with a textured protective laminate
- The texture gives grip underfoot
- It also protects the print from scuffs
Printed sheets
- Gloss or mirror finish
- Feels like a standard dance floor
- Made for dancing, like any dance floor
Whatever floor you choose, drinks and dancing go together, so ask the venue team to keep the floor clean and dry through the night.
Will a printed dance floor damage the venue floor?
For vinyl wraps we use a removable adhesive designed for temporary floor graphics, so it lifts cleanly from sealed floors. Some venues have their own rules about what can go on their floors, so check with your venue coordinator before you order. We can send them the material spec so they can approve it.
Printed sheets are different. They are the floor, so there is nothing to stick to the venue floor at all. That is one reason they suit marquees and outdoor spaces.
Pro tip Ask your venue for their rules on floor graphics as early as possible. It is a quick email, and it settles whether a wrap or sheets is the right route.
What size should a dance floor monogram be?
Most wedding monograms are between 1 m and 2 m across. Big enough to read from the tables, small enough to leave room around it for dancing feet. For a full printed floor, the size follows the dance floor itself.
Send us the floor dimensions, or simply the venue's name, and we will work it out with you. Our in house design team can set your monogram, names and date, or create a full design from scratch to match your colours, stage backdrop or DJ booth.
What should you check before ordering a printed dance floor?
- Confirm the venue's rules. Ask if floor graphics are allowed and send them the spec.
- Get the floor size. Measure it, or ask the venue or dance floor hire company.
- Choose sheets or a wrap. Use the comparison table above, or ask us.
- Check names and dates. Spelling mistakes on a floor are very visible. Check the proof slowly.
- Check your colours. If your artwork is RGB we can convert it to CMYK, but there is a possibility of colour change. Our CMYK vs RGB guide explains why.
- Book in time. Standard jobs take 7 to 10 working days, express 3 days, and super express 24 to 48 hours.
